Wolverines Pound Out Hits Against Harris-Lake Park

The South O’Brien softball team started out hot with seven hits and scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning against Harris-Lake Park at Lake Park on June 21. It looked like things were well in hand, but the host Wolves scored two runs in the first inning and five in the second inning to cut the gap to 11-7. The Wolverines scored three more times in the fourth inning to go back up 14-7. HLP managed two more runs in the sixth, but could get no closer and the final score would be 14-9 in favor of the Wolverines.
South O’Brien had a total of 15 hits in the contest. Hannah Dau lead the offense going 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and three RBI’s. Willa Sickelka smacked three singles and scored twice. Annika Jenness and Grace Fuhrman each hit a pair of singles and scored a run and Fuhrman had an RBI. Fuhrman’s courtesy runner Karlee Warnke also scored a run. Kenna Bauer had an RBI double. Getting base hits were Jinger Nieuwenhuis, Abby Schreck, and Maddie Johnson. Fuhrman and Bauer combined to give up eight hits, nine runs (five earned), one walk and nine strikeouts on the mound.
