Wolverines fall to Gehlen Catholic
Gehlen Catholic hung crooked numbers on the scoreboard in three of its four innings at the plate in defeating South O’Brien 14-1 June 9 at Le Mars. The Jays scored three runs in the first inning, six in the second and five in the fourth to secure a War Eagle The Wolverine run came in the fifth inning. Jett Keith doubled to collect the team’s first and only hit of the game. He scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dain Moermond.
South O’Brien committed just one error forcing Gehlen to earn all 14 of their runs. Tyson Wulf allowed nine of those runs after getting the start. His ledger showed 1-1/3 innings pitched, four hits, three walks, three batters hit and two strikeouts. Kaedon Louscher threw 2-2/3 innings. He gave up five runs on six hits with four walks and a strikeout.
