Main Market Changes Warehouse Adds Upgrades

By Mari Radtke
Main Market of Sutherland, Iowa and owned by Sharon and Dennis Litka, closed its doors Wednesday June 9 for the day. The quaint check out stands moved out to make room for a new, larger checkout and scanner system. The investment was driven by a change of warehouse supplier.
Main Market was not a member to the AWG group. Sharon, who does the day-to-day management of the store received many of her products as a third party buyer from neighboring Fiesta Foods of Hartley. That store recently changed hands and the future of the arrangement delivered a lot of uncertainty.
Mason Brothers Wholesale Grocery of Wadena, MN is the new distributor to Main Market. The closest outlet of Mason Brothers products is Sioux Food Center in Sioux Rapids. The two week grocery sale schedule will stay the same.
Main Market and its customers can now enjoy the benefit of twice each week delivery. The store brand will become “Best Yet.”
Along with the upgrades to tools of the trade, new flooring is being installed.
Hometown Variety is also still open as part of the overall shopping experience in Sutherland. All of the household, personal care, gift and décor items are still available in a one-stop shopping location. Hours are Monday through Saturday 7:30am through 6:30pm.
