Wolverines rally past Trinity Christian

South O’Brien lost an early lead to Trinity Christian but fought back to claim an 8-7 victory over the Tigers May 26 at Hull. The game was called after six innings due to darkness as the ball field is not lighted.
The Wolverines broke out to a 3-0 lead, but Trinity had tied the game at the end of the first inning. The Tigers added two runs in the third inning and one more in the fourth to go on top 6-3.
That was South O’Brien’s cue and the team plated three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game. The Wolverines grabbed the lead at 8-6 with a pair of runs in the sixth. Trinity answered with one run in the bottom of the inning but then South O’Brien and relief pitcher Tyson Wulf slammed the door.
Dain Moermond was 3-for-3 at the plate and all three hits were doubles. He drove in two runs, as did Brock Riedemann who was went 1-3 on the night with a run scored. It was Wilson Millan’s two-run single in the sixth that put the Wolverines ahead to stay. Millan recorded two hits as did Pete Bottjen, who also scored twice. Jett Keith had a hit and an RBI and Micah Davis notched a single and two runs scored. Baserunning specialist Cole Tjossem scored twice and his cohort, Boston Riedemann, scored one run.
Wulf tossed the final four innings for the victors. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out eight and walking three. Starting pitcher Kaedon Louscher surrendered five earned runs on three hits with three walks and a hit batter. There were two South O’Brien errors.
