Wolverines overtake Harris-Lake Park in baseball opener
After Harris-Lake Park broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, South O’Brien doubled the fun. The Wolverines responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning and tacked on another in the fifth to defeat the Wolves 5-2 May 24 at Paullina in the baseball season opener for both teams.
Kadyn Steffens homered and drove in four runs. Brock Riedemann was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Pete Bottjen also went 2-for-3. Micah Davis hit a double and Wilson Millan added a single. Jett Keith reached base twice and scored twice and Dain Moermond walked and scored.
Keith’s 6-1/3 innings on the mound included two unearned runs and two hits. He struck out six batters, walked four and hit three. Bottjen yielded two hits and recorded two strikeouts in 2/3 innings of work. Each team was guilty of three errors.
