South O’Brien Senior Hannah Dau Receives the P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

The prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was awarded to Hannah Dau, a senior at South O’Brien High School. Hannah is the daughter of Chad and Becky Dau. She was nominated for this scholarship by P.E.O. Chapter FX of Paullina. The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics, and potential for future success.
Dau has served on the student council all four years and is the student body president this year. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is currently serving as the treasurer. She has enjoyed participating in dinner theater and is a volunteer firefighter for the Paullina Fire Department. Dau has been involved in basketball, track, and softball all four years of high school. She has received all conference, all district, and all sub-state honors for basketball and softball. A favorite summer activity of hers is playing AAU basketball. She will be attending Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, to double major in Biology and Athletic Training and to play basketball.
The STAR Scholarship Program is open to young women who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada and who are graduating high school seniors at the time of application. A student must be recommended by a P.E.O. chapter.
THE P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded January 22, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is an international philanthropic and educational organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women.
