Primghar Church of Christ requested a street closure at the Primghar City Council meeting held May 12. The Church of Christ is hosting a Block Party on Saturday may 22nd from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. The are inviting the public to an outdoor event offering games, free food, including an ice cream truck on site, Abbie Parker, O’Brien County Naturalist will display furs and discuss the animals, and up close looks at race cars. They will be holding activities on the field across the street from the church and suggest bringing your own lawn chairs. The request to close one block outside the church was approved. The church is located on the northeast corner of 1st St. NE and North Inman Avenue.
The council also approved street closings on the square to accommodate a street dance on June 20 as part of the Primghar Chamber’s annual “Cobblestone Days.” The 2021 celebration will be held from June 17 through 20. All events except the street dance will be at the City Park. Since there is no bar in town at this time and the Golf Course declined hosting the dance, Sweeney’s Clubhouse of Sutherland has agreed to bring their liquor license to Primghar for the Saturday night dance. A church service to be held on Sunday is also still a possibility with planning efforts still underway.
