South O’Brien scored 32 team points to place seventh as the War Eagle Conference Meet was conducted May 3 at Hartley. In a tight race for the team championship, Unity Christian finished with 114 points to edge out Gehlen Catholic, which totaled 110 points, and West Sioux, which scored 108.
The top finisher for the Wolverines was the second-place shuttle hurdle relay team of Grant Wagner, Boston Riedemann, Pete Bottjen and Micah Davis. Another relay, the distance medley, came in third with Aidan Rehder, Mason Warnke, Hudson Oolman and Jacob VanLith. Also finishing third was Willie Conley in the high jump.
The shot put saw Keaton Sampson place fifth and Jake Wallin sixth. In the 200 meter dash Rehder finished fifth and Hudson Oolman seventh. Additional fifth-pace finishes were recorded by VanLith in the high jump and by the 4×100 relay quartet of Cole Tjossem, Freddy Stevens, Pete Bottjen and Mason Warnke.
