South O’Brien set a meet record in the 4×100 meter relay as part of a second-place team effort at the Royal Coed Relays April 30 at Marcus. Guiding the 4×100 to its record-setting performance with a time of 51.55 was the team of Annika Jenness, Hannah Dau, Karlee Warnke and Willa Sickelka. The Wolverines, with 142 points, finished behind Unity Christians’ 176 points in the team race. The Knights set a meet record in the 4×200.
There were five other first place finishes for South O’Brien. The individual winners were Sophia Faust in the 800 meter run, Jenness in the 100 meter dash, Sickelka in the 200 meter dash and Warnke in the high jump. The sixth winning effort was turned in by the 4×800 unit of Taja Conley, Grace Fuhrman, Takara Conley and Faust.
In the 400 meter hurdles Taja Conley placed second and Kenna Bauer third. Four relays also earned second-place finishes: 4×200 of Jenness, Dau, Warnke and Sickelka, the 4×400 of Taja Conley, Abby Schreck, Bauer and Faust, the sprint medley relay of Jenness, Maddy Jungers, Warnke and Sickelka and the shuttle hurdle relay of Bauer, Marissa Ebel, Riley Draper and Schreck.
Fuhrman was third in the discus as was Takara Conley in the 1500 meter run. Fourth-place finishes went to Maddie Johnson in the shot put, Schreck in the 400 meter hurdles and distance medley relay combo of Schreck, Dau, Faust and Taja Conley.
