FFA Members Participate In NW District Leadership Contests

On Saturday, March 6th, members of the South O’ Brien FFA Chapter traveled to Lake Park to participate in the NW District Leadership contests. Four of the competitors had already competed at the Sub-District level and earned the right to compete at Districts. They included Jack Farquhar, Abby Boardman, Eric Mars, and Aidan Rehder.
After earning a gold rating at Sub-Districts, Jack competed in the Ag Sales contest where he once again placed first and earned a gold rating. He now advances to the State competition.
Abby, Eric, and Aidan’s Chapter Program Team also earned a gold rating at Sub-Districts. They placed 3rd and earned a gold rating at the District competition and are the alternates to State.
Another contest going on that day was Corn Quiz Bowl. South O’Brien’s team consisted of Aidan Rehder, Jason Wittrock, Bryce Rasmussen, Eric Mars, and Kyan Kruse. They competed well while facing some strong competition, but did not advance to the championship round.
Leo Sells and Hudson Oolman served as delegates and represented the chapter as they helped elect the new district officer team.
Eric Mars, Bryce Rasmussen, Dante Johnson, and Hudson Oolman competed in the Meats contest and earned 1st place as a team, with Bryce placing 1st, Eric and Hudson tied for 3rd and Dante 6th.
Many seniors were also honored that day for their academic achievements and received the FFA State Academic Achievement Award for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. These members included Aidan Rehder, Abby Boardman, Eric Mars, Kaeley Einck, Bryce Rasmussen, and Jack Farquhar.
At the conclusion of the day, Abby Boardman received a plaque honoring her year of serving the NW District FFA as its treasurer.
