Access To and Through Primghar Challenging

Highway 59 is closed from the south edge of Primghar to the intersection with Highway 10 turning west. Now County Road B40 from the west edge of Primghar 3 miles to the intersection with County Road L48. B40 from L48 to is closed for shoulder work.
Dirt removed from the bridge on Highway 59 is being dumped along both shoulders of B40 between Primghar and L48. The project will widen the shoulders on the county road to a 6 foot width with a gravel overlay. The ditch steepness will also be reduced, changing to a 3 to 1 slope. The shoulder width will be added on both sides of B40. The project is expected to take 3 weeks, barring weather or other unforeseeable delays.
Following the 3 miles section of B40 from L48 west to L40, aka “Archer Blacktop.” The same widening of the shoulders will take place. This phase of the project is also expected to take 3 weeks. Shouldering both sides of the 5 mile stretch from Primghar to L40 is expected to take 6 weeks, without weather or other delays. B40 will be closed in segments during the work. PCI is the contractor for both projects.
