Wolverine girls back on the course against Remsen St. Mary’s
The Wolverine girls golf team faced St. Mary’s at Remsen Golf Course in their first meet of the season on April 6. Although the forecast called for possible rain and storms, the teams were able to take advantage of some great weather.
Kaeley Einck led the Wolverine girls’ team with a 50, which was good for third place overall. Sophomore Whitney Einck finished with a 58. Sophomore Samantha Wilbur ended with a 64.
St. Mary’s, compiling a team score of 199, took the win because South O’Brien had only three girls able to play in the meet. The Wolverines were one player short of what is needed to register a team score. Wolverine coach Kris Faust said, “It was great to have the girls get out and play after having high school golf canceled last spring due to COVID.” Senior Captain Kaeley Einck is the only golfer returning to the team with experience this year. Faust added, “I am excited to have Einck back and to see how this young team shapes up.”
Team scores: RSM 199, South O’Brien (incomplete)
Placings: 1st, Tori Galles (RSM), 39; 2nd, Sidney Tritz (RSM), 47; 3rd, Kaeley Einck (SOS), 50.
South O’Brien varsity scores: Kaeley Einck 50, Whitney Einck 58, Samantha Wilbur 64.
