Royals bounce South O’Brien from District tourney
South O’Brien closed out its baseball season July 1 with a 4-0 loss to MMCRU in a Class 1A District 1 first round game at Marcus. The Wolverines finished with a record of 2-19 while MMCRU improved to 10-12.
The Royals tallied a run in the bottom of the first inning but were unable to add on until scoring three times in the fifth. MMCRU pitcher KC Nicks tossed a complete game one-hitter. The senior recorded 15 strikeouts and walked two batters.
Ben Woodall pitched all six innings for South O’Brien. He allowed eight hits but issued no walks and did not hit any batters. The junior struck out two Royals.
There were no batting statistics available for the Wolverines.
Playing in their last game for South O’Brien were seniors Dain Moermond, Boston Riedemann and Camden Stevens.
