Orabs score early to defeat South O’Brien
Sheldon scored all of its runs in the first three innings and held on for a 6-4 victory over South O’Brien June 1 at Sheldon. The game was the first of the week for the Wolverines as their scheduled Tuesday game at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn had to be postponed due to a thunderstorm in the area.
South O’Brien broke on top quickly against the Orabs with three runs in the first. Sheldon countered with a two-spot in the bottom of the inning and another run in the second to tie things up.
The third inning proved to be the difference in the game. The Orabs scored three more runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Wolverines added another run in the fifth but were unable to cut further into the deficit.
Both Camden Stevens and Gabe Moermond homered in the game. Stevens added a single. Trevor Fiddelke also recorded two hits while Ben Woodall and Ryan Fuller each had one. Mitchell Enger got on base twice (by way of a walk and a hit by a pitch) and scored both times. Boston Riedemann and Ben Woodall each scored one run.
Woodall tossed all six innings, giving up the six runs on 10 hits. Four of the runs were earned. He struck out four batters and walked three. South O’Brien was guilty of six errors.
