Wolverine girls score narrow win over MMCRU golfers
The South O’Brien and MMCRU Girls Golf Teams battled it out at Remsen Golf Course on Monday, April 17, in a War Eagle Conference dual. The Wolverines eeked out the win by just three strokes, 218-221.
Scores were tight up and down the leaderboard with each team taking two medals. The Royals’ Avery Schlenger, who shot a 50, was medalist. South O’Brien’s two seniors battled it out for 2nd and 3rd place. Whitney Einck carded a 51 to earn runner-up honors and Sam Wilbur shot a 52 for 3rd. The 4th-place medal went to Cassie Weiler from MMCRU who tied Addison Brueggeman from South O’Brien at 54. Weiler won the handicap hole card playoff.
“It was a great night for golf weather-wise,” remarked Wolverine coach Kris Faust. “I’m glad the girls found a way to grind out a win, but we have some work to do in practice.”
