Deputy Clerk Position at Paullina Filled

Michelle Wilson was selected to fill the Deputy Clerk position. Wilson comes to the City of Paullina from Mill Creek Machining.
Wilson’s work experience is varied. She is well known from her seven years as the office manager for Paullina Chiropractic Center under Dr. Justin Fisher. She started at Mill Creek Machining as an administrative assistant, but took a full time position as a quality technician/floor inspector.
Wilson applied for the Deputy Clerk position because she like office work. “The hours are better for family, more flexibility,” she added.
Wilson gave this interview on her first day. When asked what she expected the job to be she replied, “Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, customer serviced, phone calls and utilities.” Wilson brings experience for all of these duties and computer experience.
The biggest challenge Wilson thinks she is facing on Day 1 is “getting things back in order. The position has been empty for a couple of months. Tasks are a little behind.” She is starting with getting her desk area organized. “There are papers everywhere.” While she has some idea of what they are, she doesn’t necessarily know where they would normally go. “I’m making folders,” she said of her plan to get the papers organized for now.
Wilson recognizes what she has taken on. She says of taking the job, “This is a big learning process.” She is going to start with the software for the utility system. Staff from Primghar has arrangements with the City of Paullina to assist with providing some of that learning. “There is a learning curve,” Wilson said. One attractive perk of working for the city said Wilson, “I appreciate that they will show flexibility with family things.” Her regular schedule is M-F 7:30am until 4:30pm.
