Remsen St. Mary’s blanks Wolverines on two hits
Three Remsen St. Mary’s pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout as the Hawks defeated South O’Brien 12-0 in five innings June 3 at Paullina. Isaiah Gerrietts worked the first three innings with Hunter Pick and Collin Homan each taking one inning. The loss dropped the Wolverines to 0-3 in War Eagle Conference play and 1-6 overall. The Hawks ran their record to 12-0.
Picking up the hits for South O’Brien were Pete Bottjen and Brock Riedemann. Drawing bases-on-balls were Trevor Fiddelke, Cole Tjossem and Dain Moermond.
Starting pitcher Fiddelke went 4-2/3 innings in picking up the loss. He yielded 12 runs (seven earned) on 12 hits with three strikeouts, three walks and one hit batter. Tjossem then took the mound and got the final out after walking a batter and hitting another.
St. Mary’s got two runs in the first inning, three in the second, two more in the fourth and five in the fifth.
