Donna Kleihauer

Donna Kleihauer, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed on to her heavenly home at age 82 on Friday, May 6, 2022.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa.  Reverend Tim Geitz will officiate.  Burial will be in West Prairie View Cemetery in Paulina, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship, all at the church.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Donna Belle Hesse Kleihauer was born on August 19, 1939, in Dow City, Iowa, the daughter of William Walter Hesse and Ethel Belle (Carlson) Hesse. She attended grade school in Athon, Iowa. She attended East High School in Sioux City through her Junior year. She moved to California with her parents in 1956, where she attended and graduated from Orange High in Orange, California in 1957. After graduation, Donna returned to Sioux City with her family. She worked at Highway 141 Cafe and Gas with her mother and father, and it was there that she met her future husband, Kenneth Kleihauer.  
Donna and Kenneth were united in marriage on October 5,1958 in Sioux City at Morningside Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they resided on a farm near Paullina, Iowa where Kenneth worked as a farm hand and Donna was a housewife.  In 1975, they moved into town and Donna went to work for Wide View Rest Home in Paullina. She worked there for 20 years, retiring in 1995. In 1996, they moved to Le Mars, Iowa to be closer to their family.
Donna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. They enjoyed attending all of their grandchildrens’ activities, dancing, golfing, and going to the Casino with friends. Donna loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was self-taught at many crafts, but cross stitching was her favorite pastime. She stitched many beautiful works of art and Christmas stockings for the entire family. She was always working on a new project and gave her finished masterpieces to family and friends to enjoy.
Donna will lovingly be remembered by her children Darrell (Sheila) Kleihauer of Le Mars, IA, Sandra (Tim) Pauley of Spirit Lake, IA, and Mark (Jerri) Kleihauer of Waukee, IA.
She will be cherished forever by her ten grandchildren, “the Grands”: Amy (Dave) Schipper of Sgt. Bluff, IA, Kayla (Jason) Muselman of Des Moines, IA, Amber Raveling of Spirit Lake, IA, Brian Lux of Hospers, IA, Tyler Pauley of Tampa, FL, Mason Kleihauer of Redfield, IA, Jenna Kleihauer of Indianola, IA, Kelli (Joel) Rhame of North Liberty, IA, Kyle(fiancé, Erin Bramble) Nuehring of Grimes, IA, Kaci (Darrin) Ternes of Lawrence, KS.
She will always be treasured by her five great grandchildren “the Greats”: Aiden Hintermeister, Addison Raveling, Declan Raveling, Everett Muselman and Douglas Rhame.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two brothers, Dwayne (Virginia) Hesse and Jerry (Dixie) Hesse both of Sioux City, IA and a host of nieces and nephews.
Donna is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Kleihauer, her son Roger Kleihauer, brother Alvie Hesse; sister Arlene Schumann, and brother William (Bill) Hesse.
