Amassing their highest point total of the season, the South O’Brien girls finished second at the Royal Coed Relays held April 29 at Marcus. The Wolverines totaled 147 points but that left them six points shy of the 153 points compiled by Unity Christian. Third place went to Alta-Aurelia which scored 107 points.
South O’Brien captured six individual events. Winners were Willa Sickelka in the 100, 200 and 400, Karlee Warnke in the long jump, Maddie Johnson in the shot put and Grace Fuhrman in the discus. The 4×100 relay of Abby Schreck, Warnke, Kenna Bauer and Sickelka also placed first.
Clara Larsen finished second in the shot put. She was joined in second place by Maddy Friedrichsen, Annika Jenness, Alyssa VanBeek and Marissa Ebel in the 4×200 relay and by Fuhrman, Takara Conley, Elodie Wilson and Mariella Smith in the 4×800.
Individuals placing third were Jenness in both the 100 and 200, Takara Conley in the 1500 and Abby Schreck in the 100 meter hurdles. Relays which earned third-place finishes were the 4×400 of Taja Conley, Regan Draper, Takara Conley and Bauer, the distance medley of Bauer, Warnke, Taja Conley and Takara Conley and the shuttle hurdle of Schreck, Riley Draper, Ebel and Bauer.
