Wolverine golf girls struggle at Akron-Westfield
The South O’Brien Wolverine Girls Golf Team faced a tough Akron-Westfield team in a conference dual at Akron Golf Club on Thursday, April 21. Although the weather was perfect for golf, the Wolverines struggled to hit the fairways and read the greens. Akron won the dual 199-246 and took the top 3 medals. Taryn Wilken took medalist honors with a 45. Akron’s Ellie Martinsen shot 47 for 2nd place, and Natalie Nielsen took 3rd with a 51.
South O’Brien’s Samantha Wilbur, junior, led the Wolverines taking the 4th place medal with a 52. Junior Whitney Einck carded a 57 and took 7th place for the Wolverines. Both Samantha and Whitney are strong leaders for the Wolverines. They will continue to battle and improve as the season progresses. Other Wolverine cards were from newcomers Addison Brueggeman, 67, Jinger Nieuwenhuis, 70, and Chloe Gergen, 72.
It was a great night weather-wise, and hopefully we will get a chance to play in this kind of weather again next week.
