Services for Sylvia I. Unrau, age 96, of Paullina who passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Community Memorial Health in Hartley. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation with family present will be from 1 P.M. till service time on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home.
Masks are recommended for the visitation and service.
Sylvia Irene Niebuhr Unrau, the daughter of Walter and Irene Niebuhr was born October 31, 1924 at Paullina, Iowa. She married Theodore Unrau on December 8, 1946 in Paullina. They started farming by Calumet, Iowa until 1962 when they moved to a farm northwest of Paullina. In 1976 they retired from farming and moved to Paullina. Throughout her time in Paullina, she helped cooking at Zion Lutheran School which she enjoyed very much. She retired in 1995. In 2012, she moved to Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley. Sylvia passed away at the Health Center on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the age of 96 years, 4 months, and 3 days.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Theodore in 1982, daughter-in-law, Lorene (Dennis) Unrau one brother, Wesley Niebuhr and two sisters, Marcella Ewoldt and Phyllis Drake.
Sylvia is survived by her three sons, Dennis of Spirit Lake, Jim and his wife Joan of Spencer, and Randy and his wife Jean of Paullina, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
