South O’Brien puts together a 12-2 thrashing of Wolvers
Alli Griebel shook off an early hiccup to pitch a gem of a game as South O’Brien crushed Harris-Lake Park 12-2 to excite the home crowd June 12 at Paullina. The softball contest was postponed from its original date of May 27.
“Alli threw a one-hitter!” exclaimed her thrilled coach Heather Struve. “She did not walk any and struck out two. Her changeup was really keeping their hitters off balance. She gave up two runs in the first inning due to a batter being hit by the pitch and the next girl hitting a home run. Other than that, she had a magnificent night on the mound! Our defense was stellar as well, committing just one error. And our offense punched out 11 hits in just four innings of play. Great night to put all three phases of the game together and get a home win!”
Wolverines with two hits apiece were Reese Farquhar, Abby Woodall, BreLee Rasmussen and Maeci Stevens. Woodall and Stevens each hit a double with Stevens driving in three runs. Griebel also enjoyed a three-RBI night.
