Junior Whyatt Ackerman recently competed in the Ag Broadcasting competition at Sub-Districts and Districts, showcasing his skills and passion for agriculture communication.
In the Ag Broadcasting event, Whyatt was given thirty minutes to organize a five minute radio presentation from actual radio copy materials. Included in the presentation was a thirty second commercial of a fictitious product that Whyatt wrote ahead of time.
Whyatt earned an impressive gold rating at the Sub-Districts and a well-deserved silver at the Districts.
Reflecting on his experience, Whyatt shared, “It was one of the best contests I have ever competed in.” He also mentioned the people he met along the way, saying, “I met some great people while competing, and it was also really fun to take part in.”
Senior Bode Bailey competed in the Individual Ag Sales Leadership Development Event.
He first participated at Sub-Districts, earning a 1st place gold rating, outperforming five other individuals with his strong presentation skills and thorough understanding of the competition.
The product Bode used was a Jug Waterer display that Dale Opdahl loaned to the FFA chapter for this competition. Bode had a time limit of 6-12 minutes for his presentation in which he interacted with one of the judges who played the role of the “customer”.
Bode’s success at Sub-Districts advanced him to the District level, where he represented our chapter and placed 6th overall among some tough competition.
Reflecting on the experience, Bode said, “I felt I tried my best, I knew my material. It was very fun.”
