Same Name New Owner

John and Hope Crowhurst are the new owners of “Bob & Scott’s” grocery store in Primghar, Iowa. Ownership officially transferred on Monday May 24. The project began 6 months ago.
John worked at “Bob & Scott’s” through much of high school and college. He attended South O’Brien through his junior year, graduating from MOC-Floyd Valley. He went on to earn his Accounting degree from Northwest Iowa Community College. Crowhurst worked in continuous improvement at Rosenboom’s in Sheldon, saying he enjoyed working there. Crowhurst said he did not come to the store until he was certain he was going to make the leap. He’s been back at the store for 3 months.
“We will keep doing what we’re doing,” said John when asked about changes to the store. He continued, “Scott and Sherry have done such a great job. The changes will be minimal. It will take time [to learn everything], but I have great teachers.”
Scott will remain as the only full time employee. Sherry will phase out as John learns from her. Scott will not be retiring early. “I am excited to keep the store going. We always got along well together,” said Crowhurst. They two of them see nothing but smooth going forward. They both agree that they expect to learn from each other; that there are no bad ideas, only ideas.
John and his family enjoy camping and he is a Primghar Jaycee Figure 8 driver.
Hope is a nurse for Care Initiatives. She is very supportive of the new venture. They have 2 children ages 4 and 1.
