Marilyn Jean Kruse

Marilyn Jean Kruse, age 81 of Granville, IA, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, IA. A public visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus, IA. Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025, at St. John’s Cemetery in Germantown, IA. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
Marilyn J. Kruse, the daughter of Carl and Vera (Hendrickson) Peterson, passed away at the Orange City Area Health Facility on January 8, 1925, at the age of 81 years old.
She was born on August 20, 1943, in San Diego, CA and was a baptized member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Marcus, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Marcus, IA, where she attended school and graduated in 1961. She attended beauty school during the summer months of high school in Sioux City, IA. She obtained her Beauty School License upon graduating from high school.
In September of 1962, she was united in marriage to James Kruse. They lived on the farm north of Marcus. She operated a beauty shop there while her family grew up. She later spent 23 years at Tyson Foods in Orange City, IA.
She was an avid gardener and was particularly fond of flowers. She enjoyed watching Iowa State, The Hawkeyes, and Kansas City Chiefs. Health issues including childhood polio have limited her activities in recent years.

On January 9, 2025, Marilyn passed away at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Vera Peterson, paternal-in-laws, T.J. and Verna Kruse; two sisters, Janice in North Carolina and Carol in Oklahoma.
She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, James Kruse and their sons, Korey and Tyler and their families; and one sister Connie (Charles) Wright of Castor Valley, CA; and other relatives and friends.
Health issues, weather conditions, and graduations have prompted the family to delay services until that time.
