Obituary – Rev. Dr. Stephen Saville

Services for Rev. Dr. Stephen Saville, age 62, of Paullina who passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer, officiating.
A private family burial will be held at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Rev. Dr. Stephen Brett “Stubs” Saville, the son of John Fleming and Penelope Louise (Fitzsimmons) Saville was born on September 5, 1962, at Schilling Air Force Base in Salina, Kansas. He graduated from Schaller High School in 1980 and continued his education graduating from Briar Cliff University in 1984, Austin Presbyterian Seminary in 1993 with his masters, and Phillips Theological Seminary in 2007 with his doctorate. Steve was an ordained minister for 22 years in the Presbyterian faith serving churches in Hobart, Oklahoma, Gainesville, Texas, Liberal, Kansas and Paullina, Iowa. After retiring from the ministry, he drove truck from 2013 until his passing. Steve was united in marriage to Anita Holder on October 15, 2000. Steve passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, reaching the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
Steve enjoyed golfing, doing yard work, and family get-togethers. He was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. Most of all, family was a very important part of his life.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Anita “Punkin”; daughter Jennifer (Justin) Jansen; grandchildren, Katelyn (Sean Anderson) Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Jacob Johnson, and Clayton Jansen; brother, John (Piper) Saville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dustin McBrayer, Cody (Nicole) Otis, Alicia Kelly, and Tammy Gray; also, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Penelope Saville; paternal grandparents, Donovan H. and Kathleen (Fleming) Saville; maternal grandparents, Max and Lorraine (Jorgenson) Saville; uncle, Donovan Karl and Maggie Saville; aunts, Barbara and Harold Paxton and Mary Saville; parents-in-law, Henry and Faye Holder and Teresa Otis; brothers-in-law, Robert Silcox and Christopher Gray; sister-in-law, Joyce Holder.
