South O’Brien School Board Meeting

Congratulations to Jaden Kreber for tying a 15 year old SOS basketball record. Jaden scored 91% of his free throw attempts, 56 of 61. The record was set by Ryan Brasser. It is unclear if the record is percentage or nominal figures.
Superintendent Wade Riley reported that all of the new construction is fully enclosed and that priming on the inside has begun. The online auction bidding is to start May 30. Zomer Auction will be handling the listings. The current schedule ends bidding on June 20 with pickup no later than June 27. There is some discussion of having public access as a part of the 2025 Gemboree activities. Demolition is planned to begin Monday June 30. Stay tuned for evolving details.
Sibley – Ocheyedan was accepted into the War Eagle Conference beginning 2025-26 school year by the member schools superintendents and assuming release from the Siouxland Conference.
Windows at the Paullina site west and South wings, were planned to be replaced to add a more cohesive appearance to the facility. Bids for the project were reviewed Monday, March 17 by the Board of Directors. Wiltgen Brothers is the general contractor. The contract for the windows themselves was won by Geels Glass, Inc. for both price and delivery time. The accepted cost of the window replacement for the two building sections is $479,650.00.
The technology committee recommended the purchase of several laptops with a “ballpark” figure of $199,000. Based on the recommended rotation that would be upgrade students entering grades 1, 3, 5 and 9. The computers are to remain with the assigned students until the next update grade level. JMC Hosting was recommended at $2.25 per student. Other software purchases and upgrades were also approved.
