A total of 10 teams participated in the contest with each contestant evaluating four pits and taking a general knowledge exam.
The team of Austin Negus, Karson Wetrich, and Gabe Moermond placed 7th. Gabe stated “ My favorite part about the contest was getting to go into the pits where we had to identify the different horizons and soil textures.”
Three scores count towards the team score, and with only two team members, the team of Will Stout and Caden Wittrcok placed 10th. Caden stated “ I thought the contest was very interesting, and I hope to get better at it through practices with Mr. Kumm. The paper test was the most difficult part of the contest for me.”
