Wolverines’ late rally falls short against Harris-Lake Park
Harris-Lake Park got all the runs they would need in the first two innings as the baseball Wolves downed South O’Brien 9-5 May 23 at Lake Park. The home team scored five times in the first inning and once more in the second. The Wolverines trailed 9-1 before mounting a partial comeback with four runs in the top of the seventh.
Brock Riedemann stroked a pair of doubles and knocked in two runs. He also drew a walk. Ben Woodall went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kester Grimm recorded a double, an RBI, a run scored and was hit by a pitch. Cole Tjossem singled, reached on an error and scored a run. Dain Moermond also had a single. Both Pete Bottjen and Boston Riedemann came around to score after reaching base on an error with the latter swiping a pair of bases in the process. Trevor Fiddelke drew a walk and Mitchell Enger was hit by a pitch. Brady Riedemann scored a run.
Grimm got the start and was saddled with the loss. In 3-1/3 innings he gave up eight earned runs on eight hits with four walks, a hit batter and one strikeout. Fiddelke’s 1-2/3 innings of work yielded an earned run on three hits. He fanned two batters and walked one. Woodall pitched a scoreless inning of relief which included a strikeout and a walk.
